Safety from the Healing the Inner Child Oracle by Nina Mongendre, illustrated by EdieArt

The Invitation: Many of us did not grow up feeling truly safe. Perhaps you lived in an environment where your physical or emotional wellbeing was uncertain. Maybe there wasn’t a consistent adult you could turn to when you felt scared, overwhelmed, or alone. When safety isn’t a given, our nervous system adapts. It stays on alert, scanning for invisible threats—even when none exist. This state of constant vigilance is deeply draining.

Take a moment to check in with your body. Do you need a glass of water? Something nourishing to eat? A warm blanket or a jumper? Tend to your needs first. Then pause. Are you safe in this moment? Feel your feet. Notice your breath. Soften your jaw. You are allowed to come home to your body.

We cannot access joy, connection, or our deepest longings while our survival brain is switched on. This card invites you to soothe your nervous system—gently and consistently—so that, over time, you begin to feel safer with your feelings. This is the ground where healing begins.

Inner Child Reflection: Can you recall a moment in childhood when you felt completely safe—at ease and protected, like the child in this image? Maybe it was lying in the sun, cuddled up beside someone you trusted, or feeling held by nature. If no memory comes, simply step into this card.

Imagine yourself as the child beneath the rainbow-crowned tree. Feel the soft grass, the warmth of the sun, the hush of foxes and sheep sleeping nearby. Let your senses come alive as you breathe, gently lengthening your exhalation. Say aloud: "We are safe. This is safe".

The Journey: Place your hands behind your neck and interlace your fingers, just like the child in the image. Let yourself lean back. Without turning your head, bring your eyes all the way to the left. Breathe here. Wait for your body to release—perhaps with a sigh, a yawn, a swallow.

Then slowly bring your eyes to the right and breathe again. Wait. When the body has responded, return to centre. Take a long, deep inhale. Hold it briefly. Then exhale and release your arms. This simple practice can be used anytime you want to return to presence, grounding, and calm. You are allowed to feel safe now.

Charms: The Wheel of Fortune & the Dope Leaf

The Wheel reminds you that nothing is fixed. You are not stuck where you began. Life moves in cycles, and something is shifting in your favour.

The Dope Leaf offers a moment to soften, to surrender the pressure, and allow your body to rest. It speaks of letting go of hyper-vigilance and returning to a more peaceful, present state of being.

Dracones Loqui Oracle is an extraordinary deck that offers far more than daily inspiration — it’s a deep, transformative experience. From the moment I began working with it, I felt I was entering sacred conversation with something much greater than myself. This deck invites you to commune with celestial dragons — Lux, Terra, and Umbra — each offering their own distinct voice and perspective.

Lux guides with compassion and light, gently illuminating the way with love and understanding. Terra brings grounding, practical wisdom to help navigate life with grace and resilience. Umbra, the shadow guardian, is powerful and uncompromising — offering tough love that asks you to face what you'd rather avoid, so you can emerge stronger and more radiant. Together, these dragons form a triad of wisdom that is both comforting and profound. Their presence is protective, loving, and unwavering — like wings outstretched in the storm.

The production quality of the deck is outstanding. The round cards are a joy to work with — unique, symbolic, and full of movement. The sigils on each card add an energetic depth, almost like keys unlocking hidden truths. The cardstock is beautiful to handle, and the gold detailing brings a touch of sacredness to the experience. It’s a deck that feels both ancient and fresh, wild and wise.

The accompanying guidebook is simply exquisite — full-colour images and a layout that feels intuitive and enriching. I especially love that each card includes an affirmation followed by individual messages from all three dragons. The depth of insight here is immense — this isn’t just a light daily draw kind of deck (though it can be used that way). It goes deep. If you’re already in a heavy emotional space, you may want to draw from something gentler — but if you’re ready to face truth, transformation, and self-discovery, this deck meets you where you are and calls you forward.

I’ve worked with Raewyn Phelan’s other decks — Messenger Oracle, Dreams of Gaia Tarot, and Seeker’s Oracle — and if you love those, you’ll adore this one. It’s the most profound and soul-stirring of them all, in my opinion.

I’ve truly enjoyed working with Dracones Loqui this past week, and I know I’ll return to it again and again for its clarity, depth, and sacred power. I now know these dragons will be with me, always just a breath away.

It is like diving into the depths of your soul and discovering an infinite wellspring of love, wisdom, and light. In this state, you feel a sense of oneness with all of creation, as if you are merging with the heart of the universe. Time and space lose their hold, and you are enveloped in the boundless expanse of pure consciousness.

This is not escape — it is sacred return. A remembering. A rising. In transcendence, you awaken to the sacredness of life and the eternal presence of the divine within and around you. It transforms not just your perspective, but your presence.

Terra speaks: To transcend a painful past, begin by acknowledging and honouring your experience without letting it define you. Practice self-compassion and forgiveness, both for yourself and others. Tend to your healing through journaling, therapy, reflection — through truth. Find the gold in what you’ve survived.

Let yourself feel grateful — not for the wound, but for the strength it grew in you. Choose presence. Choose love. Choose to live in the now, open-hearted and strong. Remember, transcendence doesn’t erase the story. It changes your relationship to it. You rise not in spite of it, but because of it. I love you, little dragon.

Umbra growls: Human, I sense discomfort when you read the word transcend. Why does it stir you so? Is it because you’re cozy in those worn-out habits, even if they’re dragging you under? You cling to what’s familiar, even as it stings — because it’s all you’ve ever known.

But let’s not lie to ourselves: you deserve better. You deserve more. And yet — nothing will change if you keep circling the same drain.

It’s time. Try something different. Break the pattern. Drop the excuses. Walk out of the loop and into the unknown. Let discomfort be your doorway — not your jailor.

The Charms - Wheel of Fortune: Life is in motion. The wheel reminds you that no state is permanent — not joy, not pain, not fear. Everything turns, everything changes. When paired with Transcend, this charm signals a powerful opportunity: the chance to step out of passive cycles and become a conscious participant in your own evolution. It asks you to trust the flow, even if you can’t yet see where it’s going. Let the wheel lift you — not spin you in circles.

2006: This number speaks to something rooted in the past — perhaps a belief, pattern, or memory seeded around that time, still quietly influencing your choices. In the context of Transcend, it invites you to trace your steps with compassion. What from that time still holds weight? What have you outgrown? This charm is a gentle prompt to release what no longer belongs and reclaim your power in the now.

Carved Pumpkin: This charm holds the essence of transformation — something once solid and heavy has been hollowed out and made luminous. The pumpkin, once a symbol of harvest and protection, is now cast in light, shaped into something magical. With Transcend, it speaks to the sacred process of reshaping pain into beauty. Let yourself be transformed from the inside out. What was once dark can now become a lantern.

Affirmation: In the gentle embrace of flow, I surrender to the rhythm of life. Like a river carving its path, I move effortlessly with the current of change. In flow I find harmony, creativity, and inner peace. I release resistance and embrace acceptance, trusting in the wisdom of the universe. Today I allow myself to be carried by the flow, knowing that within its embrace I find serenity, purpose, and boundless possibilities.

No pushing. No holding back. Just presence, trust, and the whisper that everything is unfolding exactly as it should. Flow asks you to surrender to the natural rhythm of life, especially when things feel chaotic, intense, or overly structured. This card is a breath of calm—an invitation to soften your grip, trust the process, and let the river of your life carry you instead of paddling upstream. The centre symbol suggests balance between the intuitive and the logical, the magical and the mundane.

The Charms: The Cake Mixer charm reminds us that sometimes flow is active — a beautiful, messy blend of ingredients stirred together with care. You might not control every element, but you can choose how you mix with what’s around you. What are you stirring up in your world right now?

The Rose speaks of softness, unfolding, and beauty — but also reminds us that flow can hold both thorns and bloom. There is grace in allowing yourself to open gradually, one petal at a time, without forcing growth. Let love, patience, and trust soften your path.

The World card charm brings in a sense of completion, wholeness, and deep alignment. Flow often carries us toward integration — the bringing together of scattered parts. When you're truly in flow, you're not just surviving or reacting — you’re becoming whole, in harmony with the cycles of your life.

And then, the Dinosaur — ancient, primal, wise. It brings the whisper of old patterns, instinct, and the past. Flow may be asking you to acknowledge something deep-rooted, a survival mechanism or outdated belief that’s ready to evolve. Just because something is ancient doesn’t mean it belongs in the present. The charms drawn today were the letter L, an aeroplane, and a phone. The letter L may represent a name, place, memory, or message significant to your path. The aeroplane symbolises movement, perspective, or the call to rise into something new. The phone suggests messages or important communication, whether incoming or needing to be sent. Together, these charms invite you to pay attention to the signs, connect with your purpose, and move forward with intention.
